  <content>h1. Walking in Gower

Gower is the first area in Britain to be designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The best way to take in Gower's wildlife, history, geology and its outstanding natural beauty is to observe it by foot. Leave your car and take to the countryside. The Gower Way meanders for 35 miles, criss-crossing around Gower. For further information on the three sectors of the Gower Way (South, Mid and North), follow the links below. It is very exciting as plans are now well underway with the aim of making Gower the walking capital of Britain.

A Gower Festival of Walking is planned for September as the first stage of the scheme to raise awareness of the holiday peninsula's potential as a ramblers paradise! For more information on the walking festival of Gower, you can contact the Rambles Association (West Glamorgan Branch). The festival is being co-ordinated by a team from the Mumbles Tourist Information Centre who can be contacted on (01792) 361302. Walks will be both inland and coastal and will vary both in duration and level of difficulty.
